Louk Hagendoorn is a sociologist / social psychologist with research interests in intergroup attitudes and intergroup relations (stereotypes, nationalism, political beliefs). His research focuses on xenophobia and ethnic antagonism in Western Europe, Central Europe and Former Soviet States. General knowledge of cross-cultural psychology, political psychology and social psychology. General interest in cultural differences and international relations.
He was awarded the honorary title Doctor et Professor Honoris Causa from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) of Budapest, Hungary (Social Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences) in May 2007.
Louk Hagendoorn also received from the Dutch Sociological Association (NSV) in June 2006 the Award for the best Dutch social science publication in 2004-2005. Louk Hagendoorn and Paul Sniderman are the 2008 winners of the prestigious Robert E. Lane Book Award for their capturing book "When Ways of Life Collide: Multiculturalism and Its Discontents in the Netherlands". This prize is awarded to the best book in 2007 and it is given by the Political Psychology Section of American Political Science Association (APSA). (Read abstract).
